Mystery Solved

I’ve finished the first of my MKALs, and have gotten through the given clues on the second, so I figured I’d write a quick post detailing them!

Finished mitts!
  • Pattern: Sinuosity by Valerie Pollock
  • Yarn: La Bien Aimee x Modim, Colorway Elise, 30 g used
  • Needles: US 1/ 2.25 mm
  • Timeline: Started 2/1/20; Finished 3/1/20 – this a MKAL divided into 4 clues which were released each week for 4 weeks. Each clue only took 2-3 hours, and my work trip delayed their completion by about a week.
  • More photos and details found at my Ravelry project page

I really love how these mitts turned out! The pattern was just perfect – enough to keep it interesting to knit and good to look at, but simple enough to make it go quickly. The beads add a really expensive looking touch. The only complaint I had is that they are too small! I didn’t do a gauge swatch, so the gauge is really tight. Normally I would make the m/l size, but when I was casting on, it looked too wide, so I made the small. You can see in the picture below how it doesn’t fit my hand (you can also see my cat getting in the way!!). Luckily I have a friend who has very small hands, so I was able to gift them to her! Overall a great project that I actually completed mostly in the time of the MKAL!

Whoops!

I’ve also technically finished the Valentine’s Day MAKL. By that I mean I’ve knit everything the patten has told me to knit, but I’m not done. I got to the end of the pattern, and I had only used just about 1 skein. I had bought 2 for the pattern (which said it took 600 – 900 yards), and so I really wanted to use more of it! I’m adding another repeat of the heart motifs, and then probably a knit on edging. More details to come once I actually finish that pattern off!

Hope you’re having a nice weekend! I went to knitting club this morning, and then tonight I’m having dinner with my friends and then we’re seeing a show at a local high school. The show is The Drowsy Chaperone, which several of these friends have been involved in productions of, and we actually have seen two other productions in CT together! I really appreciate that I found this theater company a few year ago, since the friendships I’ve made have been really awesome. Tomorrow I have to be at church at 9 (choir) and will be there till 1:30 (search committee) so that should be … fun.

  1. Ohh, very elegant, especially with the lace at the bottom! They look great. I’m so sorry that they are too small for you, but you’ve got a lucky friend for sure! (and I mean, you an always make them again).
I know what you mean about the shawl! Sometimes you just want to make it as big as possible.
Good luck for tomorrow! I hope it won’t be too tedious!

    1. Thank you! I have knit with beads before, but this would be a perfect project to try it out – you only use 20 beads total so it’s not too much commitment. I made a shawl with beads and the longest row with beads, which had them about every 3rd stitch, took me 4 hours!
