An unseasonable shawl

I feel like there’s a funny transition in my last few projects finished. Rainbow yarn for socks – rainbow yarn for a Love Note – Love-related shawl complete. It made me smile even if it makes no sense to anyone else haha. Anyway, I finally finished the border on my Valentine’s Day shawl, just in time for Memorial Day, as one does :p

Ok so it’s really hard to get good photos of this because the color is so dark but I really like this! It’s been a while since I made this shawl shape, and I’m always shocked by how deep they get! I’m really glad I added the second repeat of the heart pattern an the lace edging, I think the finish off the shawl really nicely and make it big enough that I’ll actually wear. After seeing how much yarn I have left I probably could have done a larger border but I like the one I chose. Even though I finished this WAY after the original KAL time, I still count it as a win from a MKAL perspective because I did finish the pattern as written just about in that time. I extended it out by adding to the pattern.

I also cast off Noah’s Landing today and have about 15 rows plus the toe on my Traincation socks – so barring disaster I will have met my goal of having both those off the needles before June 1. The yarn I’m planning for rainbow socks just shipped out tonight, looking forward to seeing it in person!!

  1. It looks beautiful! The hearts especially – congratulations! Deep shawls like this are so great for casual wear in the evenings when it’s getting a little chilly, and they also look super stylish when wrapped. WOOT!! 🙂
