Unraveled Wednesday

I’ve been hesitating joining in on Unraveled Wednesday over at As Kat Knits before, since I don’t read all that much anymore, and it seems like it’s designed for knitters and readers. But I have a new finished object and I’ve been actually doing some reading lately, so I figured I’d join in!

First up, the finished object. I finished another longstanding WIP!

Woohoo they’re done! Don’t have too much to say about these. I really like this stitch pattern because it’s very forgiving of mistakes, they’re not obvious. One day I’ll actually knit the heel from these as stated because it does look really cool. One sock is definitely bigger than the other because I think my gauge has gotten tighter over time. They’ll be going to my roommate since I have just finished a bunch of socks during the past few months.

Speaking of which, I really wanted to try and get a second pair of pride socks in, so I cast on last night with some Felici. I have about 40g of this so I’m using the Rose City Rollers pattern and I’ll do a contrast heel and toe. I have until the 15th for the test knit so I’m trying to get these done by this weekend.

On the reading front, I’ve been re-listening to the Phryne Fisher series. If you haven’t heard of these, you need to! There’s a TV show based off of them, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries which is really good as well. Phryne is one of the best characters I’ve come across. I’m also finishing up a book called Different Strokes leant to me by my roommate. This book is about the Black experience in tennis and it’s really interesting. It’s focused on the Williams sisters but shares a lot about the history of the sport and the USTA. It’s really good!

Hope everyone is having a good week! What are you knitting and/or reading?

  1. Your socks are gorgeous! I’ve been reading the book Hidden Figures – the movie was great and I’d definitely recommend the book as well.

  2. Yay for finished socks! And I love your new pride socks – those are so much fun!

I’m glad you joined the Unraveled link up! And it’s okay to join if there are weeks when you read or knit less – everyone does!

  3. These are great socks! I need to knit this pattern one of these days.

I just finished reading A Song Below Water by Bethany C. Morrow, and really enjoyed it. It’s one that I picked up because of the #BlackoutBestsellerList promotions, and I’m really glad I did.

  4. Very cool socks. That pattern, Hermione’s Everyday Socks, looks good in so many different yarns. The new rainbow shorties are going to be fun too.
