Unraveled Wednesday – Algal Blossoming

Happy Wednesday! Today I link up with the folks over at As Kat Knits to share our knitting and reading progress. Thanks for hosting us Kat!

I think I’ll actually share reading progress first since there are more things going on there. I finished Mexican Gothic this weekend. It was…wow. Most of the book was kind of like a slow burn, and then it escalated SUPER QUICKLY at the end. It was spooky and creepy and kind of gross. I can’t say I really enjoyed the book a whole lot, but I did really enjoy the process of reading it. I had headphones in, stayed up too late, and just got absorbed in the story. It’s been a really long time since I had done that! Since then, I also finished another book I had started reading in February, called Labyrinth Lost. I really liked this book! It was an awesome world, and a great story about finding your power and connecting to your family. Now, I’m reading Good Omens. I seem to have found a bit of reading mojo again, and I’m digging that!

On the knititng front, I’ve been 100% working on my Ranch Coat. So many of oyu said you liked the Great Western Way shawl, and I do want to get it finished so I can write the pattern up and publish it! But I had a bit of a freakout when I realized how much work I had to get done on this, and the amount of time left. I also may have signed up for a tshirt test knit…..

So, I figured I would share a project that I actually finished back in April, but it was a secret test knit for an upublished pattern. So, let me introduce you to the Algal Blossoming Shawl!

• Pattern: Algal Blossoming Shawl by Tina Tse, which is available from the latest magaize from Life In the Long Grass
• Yarn: Republica Unicornia BFL sock in 30 A (teal) and Starry Night (Navy);  Casual Fashion Queen Cozy Merino in a club colorway
• Timeline: cast on 3/19; cast off 4/23

I really like this shawl! The colors are so bright and fun! Tina is one of my favorite designers. It was really cool to make – it’s nice to make a shawl where it doesn’t get bigger every row! It’s knit on the bias which makes it cool. The short row and lace sections keep it interesting.

Hope you’re all having a great week! My work has been very hectic and stressful, but I have a half day Friday and I’m off Monday, so that will be very nice!
