Blanket squares completed: 7

New blanket square count/ %: 75 – 16%

Towards the beginning of the month, I definitely didn’t knit as much, but I the WIP count is in single digits! I am actually really liking the idea I had to put all the WIPS in a pole and take a picture of them. It’s really making me question if I want to keep working on these! I’m also liking how I can see progress on the projects I work on. Look how much bigger the ranch coat got!

For August, I am hoping to be pretty monogamous on the Ranch Coat and on a new test knit that I have yarn coming for. What are you working on next month?

  1. This is a great wrap-up! You made some good progress there. I look forward to seeing that WIP number keep going down!

I may have missed an answer about this already since I wasn’t here for your start-of-project posts about the blanket, but are you planning the colors (or color families) for your mitered square blanket, or just picking randomly? I have plans to make one (eventually) but the hardest part for me is determining how much planning I will do for it.

    1. Oh good question! I don’t think I ever explained it, I started the blanket in 2016, wayyyy pre blog lol! It’s pretty random, I try to do vaguely a light color next to a dark color and each new one I put in have a color in common or close to one of the adjacent squares, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. My goal is not to repeat, or at least repeat very far away from each other, I’ve done some exchanges with people to bolster my pile of minis.

      1. That’s a great idea! I’ve been thinking about whether or not I want to alternate a color with a white/off-white square, but that feels like I’d have to buy more yarn in order to do that (and the point of this is to make a scrap yarn blanket). But if I can alternate light and dark yarns, that would give a similar effect. Thanks for the suggestion!

  2. Thank you for following me ^__^. I have my older nephew’s cardigan to finish and my shawl. Glad to get my husband’s socks off the needles.

  3. Wow. That’s such a great way to hold yourself accountable for finishing stuff (or frogging). I’m almost inspired to do the same, but I’m worried it might make me anxious 😂😂

  4. Your WIP count is shrinking – YAAAYYYYY! Looking forward to seeing your Ranch Coat progress 🙂 I am working on my Shelly Summer Top, the Half the Knit Sky shawl, and some socks for my DH
