About Me

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m so happy to have you here.

My name is Kathryn, and I set up this blog to talk about my knitting. I have been knitting steadily since late 2014, though I first learned when I was in middle school. Knitting is a way for me to relax, challenge myself, meet new friends, and make beautiful things. I figured out a few years ago that my driving force is to create things people use or enjoy, and knitting fits right into this.

That driving spirit is not just about knitting though. It’s what keeps me engaged at my day job at an insurance company, working on process improvement to make other people’s jobs easier. It’s also why I do theater – the name of this blog comes from my love of working on a show.

On this blog you’ll find my musings around the projects I knit and how they fit into my life. I love to get to know my fellow bloggers, so stop by and say hello!

I FINALLY finished my Catkin shawl! This was my longest on the needles project. I cast it on July 2016 after receiving it as a gift from @nonbirarian after doing my first ever test knit. There’s a whole lot of story behind this shawl, which I wrote about on the blog! (link in bio)
The #foxspirtcardi is now live on @tina.say.knits website! I really loved knitting this pattern, it’s a super satisfying make. The yarn is absolutely glorious, it’s @onyxfiberarts Bulky in Orchid for the MC and Worsted in Esme for the CC.
It’s crazy how we’ve been doing this whole pandemic thing long enough that now there’s its own traditions. Here are two of my favorites- takeout from @mamwyoga and @ctsprinterlife ; and Friday night movies with @dianamh119 . We’re currently working our way through the Disney+ animated movies via random number generator, and tonight was Treasure Island!
I finished my Druid Circle sweater by @pipernell ! This is a warm and cozy winter sweater which I made with 3 colors of @knit_picks Wool of the Andes Sport.
Homemade pasta is the best!
For Christmas, @dianamh119 got me a book of recipes for handmade pasta. Today I made Ciciones and Lentil Stew and it was very delicious! Diana made the bread, so we collectively spent about 10 hours making this meal 🥘
In my family, Christmas is about the food, and even though I was by myself this year I tried to keep it as similar as possible. Breakfast was quiche made by me and @dmanocchio1116 , and dinner was lasagna from @mamwyoga , scalloped potatoes and green beans I made, and salads from Mom! It was a great day. ❤️💚
My favorite Christmas tradition is the reading of the Christmas Memories book. Each year we write what we want to remember about the season and read all the years back. It’s full of laughs, tears, and lots and lots of love. This year looked a bit different but I’m still so grateful for this time spent with my family @dmanocchio1116 @la_fleur_qui_chante
I finished this sweater last month as a test knit, and the pattern was just released yesterday, so thought I’d share it with you now!
