Unraveled Wednesday – It’s Been Too Long!

Hello all! It’s Wednesday, so I’m linking up with other knitters and readers over at As Kat Knits.

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I blogged – where has the time gone?! I’ve had a few busy weeks at work and have lacked the mental energy to both write posts and read posts from others – and I always feel bad writing things when I haven’t read and commented on other people’s posts. Plus, the US Open tennis tournament was happening the past two weeks and my roommate and I watched that a lot at night, it was very conducive to knitting but less good for reading people’s posts. Hope you’re all doing well, and I’ll slowly catch back up with what people are doing!

I have actually gotten a good amount of knitting done! I finished the test knit top I was working on, but I’m going to wait to show it off until it’s been released. I also completed a test for a lacy sock – I’m not done with the pair because I only had to make one for the test, so that’s what I did haha. I’ll get the second one done eventually.

I’ve been doing a ton of work on my Ranch Coat! I’m now midway through the first sleeve. I’m hoping to finish this off in the month of September. I’m really loving how this is turning out. It’s going to be such a warm, cuddly cardigan when complete.

Next up for me will be the Slipstravaganza MKAL (Ravelry link). I’ve hesitated on doing Stephen West patterns MKALs before, because some of his patterns look like they’re a little too crazy for me. But, there are actually a ton of reasons why I now want to do this:

The pattern calls for 2 skeins of a MC and 3 CCs – so it’s probably going to be very large! I feel like I have so much fingering weight yarn (though not necessarily a lot of multiple skeins), so I kind of want to knit this from stash. I spent a few minutes this afternoon putting together a few combos. I’m drawn to 2 and 3 from a color combo standpoint, but I also already have a ton of blue and green, so I like the idea of the purples in#4, but I’m not sure there’s enough contrast there. My friends like 2 and 4, with 4 being the favorite. Maybe the natural yarn as the MC with #4s CCs? What do you think?

On the reading front, I don’t have nearly as much progress. I did finish The Shadow of the Wind, and I really loved it! It was a very engaging story and I’m super happy with how it ended. I guessed the main “mystery” of the plot but would not have expected the ending and was pleasantly surprised. The book was spooky and a bit intense at times, but also a really rich story. It’s definitely worth a read. I haven’t read much at all since finishing that. I took out an ebook from the library’s system which I finally got set up, but didn’t really get into it.

Life wise, not too much is going on, as you might expect from a single person with no kids during a pandemic. It’s not bad though, just kind of boring. I am looking forward to a long weekend the 25-28th, I booked an AirBnB still within CT just to hang out and chill for a few days in a different place. Hope to be blogging more consistently again, but with me you never know!
