So Close… – Yop 20/21 – Week 12

Hello friends! On Sundays I blog about my Year of Projects updates. YoP is a Ravelry group of bloggers who make a plan for what they want to work on/ accomplish during the year and then blog about it. It’s a great group of folks. You can find my plan for the year here.

This week I’ve been working on my Ranch Coat, and it’s sooooooo close to being done! I just did the 13th of 17 decreases on the sleeve, then I need to do the pockets. I’m hoping to finish this off in the next couple of days. I’m really happy my friends and I decided to knit sweaters with this yarn, I love it so much! This will be such a comfy, snuggly cardigan, I seriously can’t wait to have it finished. Even though there’s not in person Rheinbeck this year, this sweater is still such a great memory of the knitting friendships I’ve formed.

I’m spending Thursday – Sunday night at an AirBnB about 1/2 an hour from me, and have no real plans other than relaxing and knitting. So I think I might bring the Great Western Way and I Want a Revalation socks to try and get as much of those done as possible before the Slipstravaganza MKAL starts in October. I’m also now rethinking my color choices for that – I think my yarns are too variegated after buying the pattern and reading the info so I’m going to do some more stash diving and see what I come up with.

How has your weekend been? Mine has been very nice so far. Yesterday, I went to knitting club, since about June we’ve been meeting at a community center that has a nice outdoor space, but yesterday it was pretty cool in the morning (in the 40s F) so we ended up meeting at my friend’s place since they just got a fire pit. It was great to sit and knit around the fire. I’m so thankful to have knitting friends who are committed to still trying to see each other even during COVID. We’re planning to knit outside by the fire pit as long as we possibly can – certainly the fact that we’re knitters and have lots of sweaters, hats, and blankets helps! Then after knitting club I met up with another friend and we had a nice outdoor lunch and walk along a rail trail. This afternoon, my family is getting together for my mom’s birthday, which was Thursday. We’re going to have a nice outdoor picnic.

Have a great week everyone!

  1. Your new coat will be ready just in time for a full season of wear! I love the color.
I’m feeling chilly right now, and I’m getting some sweater feels from your post!

  2. Now see… you thought to take a picture of your good time with friends. If you read my YOP post this week you’ll understand why that is so noteworthy to me. 🙂

I love your sweater. I’m so looking forward to seeing it finished soon!

  3. Oh how lucky you are to have knitting friends willing to meet in person. Unfortunately my group still isn’t willing to get together in person. So weekly Zooms are better than nothing. Looks it will be next summer before we meet in person.

  4. Your sweater is GORGEOUS!! Oh my goodness!

I love your pictures from knitting group – and the quilt in the background!

I’m glad you had a lovely weekend — and you have an amazing one planned. Enjoy 🙂

  5. Your ranch coat is gorgeous. How fun to sit around a fire and knit. I had no friends here before eCOVID so I certainly don’t now but I do fine and I am never bored! LOL! Enjoy your AIR B&B and the trail walk sounded so enjoyable too. Have a great week!

  6. Ooh it looks so snuggly and warm! And I love the patterning.
Lucky you getting to knit around a fire pit. I’ve not yet experienced that, but I have a feeling it would be one of my favourite things.

  7. The YoP plan sounds like fun! 🙂 I love the cardigan, and I’m glad you’re able to hang out with friends/family even during these crazy times.

  8. I love this coat – it’s going to be your constant companion this winter I’m sure. The colour is also gorgeous and the little pockets on stitch holders at the moment look like little eyes. 👀
