Hello and happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far. On Sundays, I write about my progress for my Year of Projects projects. YoP is a Ravelry group of bloggers who plan a year’s worth of projects and then blog about working on them. You can find my plans here.
Ok, I have very exiting news to share! I am checking two things off the list. Though, they’re not quite done yet, but on both I’m calling it a win. On Wednesday, I finished the Plush Sweater, and this morning I finished the I Want a Revelation socks! But both are blocking and drying, and the socks have some final finishing, so I guess not quite finished yet. But I’m so excited about both of these.
I’m going to write a separate post on the Plush Sweater since that’s for a test knit, and I think I may wait until after it’s published. The due date for the test was 11/22, so I think it will only be a few weeks until that happens. Once I finished my Plush Sweater on Wednesday night, I was in the mood for something small and easy to finish. These were the only pair of socks I had still on the needles, and definitely one of the longest term wips. It feels so good to cross them off the list!

- Yarn: Berry Colorful Yarnings Saturated Sock (Rav Link) “Werk”
- Timeline: Cast on 10/16/17, cast off 11/15/20, in reality about 65% of these were knit from 11/12-11/15
So if you couldn’t tell, these are Hamilton inspired! The stripes in the yarn are the color of the Schuyler sister’s dresses! And the lace is meant to be reminiscent of that time period. I got a kit for these which came with the yarn, pattern, and also little purl buttons that are meant to be added to the back of the leg. I’m not sure I want to do that so I think I’ll give it a day or two and see what happens. Mostly I’m just happy to have these off the needles :D. I cast them on on a train trip to CA in 2017! I can remember knitting them a bit on the train but also mostly around cute places in the town I was visiting.
Next up for me will be the Anders (Rav Link) sweater. My sister’s best friend is having a baby in January so I’d like to get this done! I’m going to make the 12-18 month size. I think I’m going to try and knock this out this week, I made the 1 year little love note in 3 days. This has some colorwork, but I definitely think it will go pretty quick. I’d like to just finish this off so I can really asses what I want to work on next!
In non-knitting news, check out Julie and Rosemary‘s YouTube videos about the connection between music and fiber arts. I found these through Julie’s blog, and it was super interesting to hear! Speaking of music, I’ve been taking voice lessons for 4 years now, and last night I had a small recital where I sang a piece I’d been working on. I recorded my final dress rehearsal, and I’m really proud of it, so I figured I’d include it here.
Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and some PTO I had to use up, this week coming up is my last full week “in the office” until the end of the year! Looking forward to a bit of a lighter time as people start to take vacation, though there’s still lots to be done before then!

Congratulations on your recital. I could never perform in public. I hated my piano recitals as a kid.
The socks are so cute and a great pattern. Again, congratulations on finishing a test knit on time. I could never do that.
It definitely took me a bit of time to get more comfortable with it, when I started voice lessons I definitely hated it.
I like doing tests because it sort of forces me to stay on track! Otherwise I would just cast on something else the instant I got slightly bored with it

As for the new baby sweater…………….I can not imagine doing a colorwork sweater in that short of a time frame. Just a single color baby sweater takes me at least 3 days to do. You amaze me! Yeah we’ll see on the sweater- after I wrote this post I plugged in all the stitches I think it will be longer than a week – I remembered that the love note was Dk, not sport, and knit with larger needles. So it will probably take longer, but that’s ok!
Oh, I love that song. I admire you for taking voice lessons (and singing in a recital – and posting a video of your dress rehearsal!) In the life I didn’t live I think that might have been marvelous. 🙂 Thanks for linking to the podcasts. I will enjoy watching those.

Great productivity on your end. LOL, today I worked on my nails (no color) and our OMAD. Then I “shopped” virtually while my sorority sister did her live show of her side hustle.
That sounds very nice! Sometimes I’m knitting productive because I’m avoiding adulting tasks so it’s all in your perspective.
I want to take voice lessons. I love singing and would like to be braver about singing in front of others.
It’s definitely helped my confidence, not just with singing but in general!

Love the socks! I don’t blame you about thinking twice about the buttons up the back, though. I think that’s the kind of thing that—even though it looks cool—I wouldn’t want to actually wear. I have a pair of fingerless gloves with buttons up the side, and even those bug me enough that I rarely wear them.
I’m now performing Hamilton, in my head. I think I’ll stick my headphones in and listen to it (again for the zillionth time) tomorrow!

Congratulations on your recital, this isn’t a song I recognise. The socks are such a lovely idea for a theme, I loved Hamilton when we saw it in London. I look forward to seeing the jumper when you are allowed to share it.
