Do you know what this means? It means Slipstravaganza is DONE!! I blocked it last night (thanks, dry air!) and finished tying off the ends this morning during a conference call. She’ll get her own special FO post tomorrow, but let’s just say for now that I love it.
I finished putting together my Dumpster fire ornament! It’s a great addition to the tree.

- Yarn: La Bien Aimee x Modim in “Elise” for the dumpster, Valley Yarns Huntington in Red, Sunset, and Mustard for the flames.
- Timeline: Started knitting 12/5, finished knitting 12/6, and seamed 12/8
This is a fun little project that I recommend! It can be finished in a few hours. I definitely found the duplicate stitch and the seaming everything together a bit fiddly, but there were really great instructions included in videos with the pattern. It wasn’t hard to figure out what to do, I just didn’t really love doing it. I shared this picture with my coworkers, and one of them asked if I knitted an ornament every year. I said no, but what an awesome idea! I’ll have to remember that for 2021 and try to find an ornament that characterizes the year as well as this one does. Hopefully it’s not another dumpster fire!
With Slipstravaganza finished, I finally had to make a decision on what to work on next. I cast on my December A Girl and Her Wool yarn club socks! I decided to make the Fine and Dandy (Rav Link) socks , though I’ll probably do a rolled cuff a la Rose City Rollers, since I only have 10 g of the contrast color. I made this pattern a few years ago as socks for my Aunt, and I think the flower pattern will be nice for this subtle-y speckled yarn.
Since it’s Unraveled Wednesday (check out Kat’s link party for some awesome knitting and reading inspiration), let’s get to the book part shall we! I was off Friday- Tuesday so also made great progress here.
I finished The Fifth Season! This book was really, really good. but also really, really hard to read at times . The author creates a really broad fantasy world and in depth characters, but there’s also a lot of connection to how the real world treats people of color. It’s not light easy reading, both from subject matter and how densly it’s written (not in a bad way), so I’m going to take a break and read some other things before reading the next two books in the series!
Ahhh I loved Carry On by Rainbow Rowell! Thanks for the recommendation Sarah! It was fun and happy and a bit intense but I loved it so much! I am picking up the next book from the library today!
I’m currently listening to Gideon the Ninth. This book was recommended to me by two of my friends who I trust a whole lot when it comes to books. I had listened to it before but didn’t get very far (or maybe I got kind of far but gave up) because again it wasn’t in a reading mood. I’m definitely intrigued by the world and the story!
