Hello friends! It’s apparently been 9 months since I did one of these posts! I think just a combo of not reading a lot and then not blogging a lot, and then both of those things. But my reading mojo has also returned in the past week, so here we go. As always, thanks to the lovely Kat for hosting the link party 🙂
So let’s start with a bit of knitting/life progress. There’s really not too much to share here since Sunday. Work has been a little hectic this week, so all I’ve been able to knit is blanket squares, but hey I’m happy to keep that momentum up. Tonight I was working on the pre-work for my data analytics course which starts Monday, and putting a few rows in on a square during the occasional video that would pop up in the training. It was a good night. 😃 I’m really excited for this course, and while I think I know a lot of what will be covered in the Excel portion, I can’t wait to learn more about SQL and Tableau.
That picture is from Thursday, where I was celebrating actually signing up for this course with a fancy drink I made and a really good book! Here are some other recent bookish highlights:
 | Let’s start with the book in the image above! This is Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. I really loved this one, though it did a bit of ripping my heart out. If you’re like me and get emotionally invested in books, be prepared to cry for an hour like I did. I will say this one built a little slowly, but I ended up loving it and I recommend it! It does have lots of mention of death, including suicide and child loss, so if that’s tender for you I might steer clear. |
 | Since I’m doing the 4 hour drive to Lake Placid later this month, I wanted to get back into audiobooks, and I noticed I had the second Flavia de Luce in my Audible library, so I went ahead and borrowed the first from Libby. I finished this one last week and I’m on to the second. I believe I read both these probably 7 or 8 years ago, but I didn’t remember anything about the plot of the first one. I’m remembering the second a little better, which is an interesting note in terms of how much I remember something if I listen to it vs just read it. I really love the character of Flavia, and I can’t wait to get farther into this series! I already have the 3rd audiobook borrowed from Libby! |
 | My hold on this on Libby FINALLY came through (I feel like I requested it during my April reading mojo?) and so I felt like I needed to start this one. It’s not my favorite so far, but I’m enjoying how quickly it moves because of the interview format. I’m not frustrated by it in any way, but it’s also not super compelling to me. |

What great books! TJ Klune! He’s such an amazing writer. I’ve only read House on the Cerulean Sea, but this one looks really good too. Thanks for the recommendation! Daisy Jones and the Six was amazing on audio, so if you get stuck with the paper edition it might be worthwhile to give it a listen. And you know about my love of Flavia 🙂 I’m so happy that your reading mojo has returned.
And I love that you’re taking a data analytics course — that sounds right up my alley! Those blanket squares are really adding up – such nice work.
