Hi everyone! I know it’s been a little while but I’ve been busy trying to get everything together for Seattle! I leave a week from tomorrow 😰 so there’s still a ton to do with packing and all that. The good news is that my logistics in Seattle are all set, I’ve got my car on the way there with some stuff in it, and I’ve culled through everything in my house. But, I still need to pack pretty much everything and I’m still figuring out exactly what’s happening with my condo. So lots to do in a week that includes Christmas. But I’m not working starting Tuesday so hopefully I can start to make some real progress.
Anyway, on to the crafting! Since it’s Sunday, this is a Year of Projects post. Year of Projects is a Ravelry group of bloggers who share a plan for their projects for a year, and then blog weekly about it. You can see my plan here .
I’ve gotten a lot of cross stitching done since we last talked! I wanted to get the unfinished projects finished before leaving. So, from left to right we’ve got: the little mop and broom from Head Over Heels last year, the cat from two years ago, and the sheep from Head Over Heels as well. It feels so good to get these done! I’m especially proud of the cat, even though it’s two years late lol. It was supposed to be a housewarming gift for my roomate who moved out. The half stitches and backstitching pattern really make this one sing I think.
I’ve also finished my Ripple Bralette since we last talked, though I’m less happy with that one, except that it did use up three skeins of leftovers, which is great. I made it a little too long, and I went up to a 3X because my other versions of these are a little tight around the band, so it’s too big as well. But I’m reserving final judgement until I wash and dry it (it’s all superwash yarn).
So yeah, just getting things off the list so I don’t have to bring stuff with me unfinished! The project I’m now spending my time on is new to this blog. One of the things I had put on my list was to finish by the end of this YoP year was my altered Geogradient. I had made the original “altered” version of clue 1, pivoted to all new colors, and planned to make my own version of the pattern with different stich patterns so it wasn’t the same. But I wasn’t liking how the shaping I chose was working with the square, so I tore it all out and started an Exploration Station. However, the needles I had with the project were two sizes too small (and usually I go up a size for Stephen’s shawl patterns), so I decided to be extra and expand the pattern with two additional wedges. I’ll also have to expand each of the following sections a little bit to make stitch counts work, so I did the math for that this week. I’m a little worried about the shaping working out, but I think we’ll be ok. The pattenr only calls for 50% – 75% of each of the colors, so I’m not worried about yardage. There’s still a ton of knitting to do on this one, but I think it will be really good when it’s complete.
