Happy Sunday everyone! Well I guess probably Monday since it’s pretty late in the day when I’m getting to this. I hope y’all had a nice weekend. It was beautiful, if a little warm here in Seattle. As promised, I’ll check in with what I got at Flock!
For the most part, I was able to stick to my plan. I walked around Saturday and looked at every vendor. While I said I wasn’t going to buy anything, I did get the blue you see in the picture below. I think it may have been the lighting of the booth, but it called my name from across the way and I couldn’t say no. I did wait until I looked at everything, but this color stood out to me as the one I wanted to build around. So then I got there Sunday and I did deviate from the plan by buying one more color than I planned to and some coordinating mohair, so spent more money than I meant to. I just have the feeling that this year’s shawl might be a lot of colors since last year’s was only two so I wanted options. But I’m really happy with the colors I chose! The dyers are, from left to right: Miss Babs, Pigment & Ply, Nano Stitch Lab, and ōSHǝan Knits & Fibers. I’m now soooo excited for the MKAL this year! Watch the pattern this year be all one color though 🤣

I had told myself I could have a few non-yarny treats too. So I got a bandanna from Elana Gabriele, a gorgeous printed sock tube from 316 Dye Studio, and a cheeky little cross stitch kit from Junebug and Darlin … which oh my god I just realized I bought two of their kits earlier this year on Etsy 🤦🏻♂️

There were definitely a lot of yarn, 125 vendors! Saturday had a few more people than today, it was definitely pretty tight trying to get into a lot of the booths. It was in a convention center so a pretty contained space, but I’m not gonna lie, I kind of appreciated compared to something like Rhinebeck. I was able to meet up with a few people at this festival too. My building has a little craft group and one of the people from there met up with me and we walked around a bit. And then way back in June I had gone to a charcuterie class and the person I was sitting next to happened to be a fellow yarn person. We followed each other on Instagram and got to catch up a bit today! The convention center has this big set of wide steps with cushions against a wall of windows, and so people gather there and craft and relax. It was a great time! You can see a few small clips of things in the TikTok I posted below!
Well for now I’ll stick to waiting impatiently for October when I can build a gorgeous shawl with this yarn!
