Hi everyone and happy Friday! I wanted to brag a little about my latest make so I figured I’d pop in with a post!
This is a cute little crop top that I fully made up! Basically I needed a mindless project and the only things that didn’t need to be wound were various fingering weight leftovers. This is a combo of a couple of different elements:
- The main structure is from the Blush and Glow crop, a pattern I tested but appears to no longer exist. But I wanted a crop and I liked the easy knitting of garter after the split and no sleeves
- The gauge (two skeins of fingering held together on large needles) is from the Swooping Scoop Top by Jessie Maed Designs. I’ve knit this before but the fit wasn’t quite right. I decreased the number of stitches I cast on the last time but kept the same needle size.
- I really liked the square neckline when I made Vitamina by Julie Knits in Paris, so I used those lengths for the top and messed with the ratios a bit so it fell off my shoulders less.
Overall I’m so happy with this! It definitely could be a skotch longer, but I’m currently wearing it with a pair of overalls and it’s perfect. I made it in about 3 days and used up a good chunk of yarn, including the full leftovers of some things that had been around since like 2016-2018. Shout out to my CT knitting friends for encouraging me to keep a few of these leftovers skeins and try and use them when I was packing up to move out here! I feel really good that I was just able to make up a pattern for a garment like this. Yeah, it’s not super complicated but I’ve always felt like making up my own things was something I couldn’t do so it feels really good to have just gotten this done.
