I know what you’re thinking – wow, another FO Friday only a week after the last? They must have done a lot of knitting this week. Well, you’re wrong 🤣 I did just enough knitting to finish off this vest which was 90% done before this week.
This is the Hunter Vest by Jared Flood, a gansey-style pullover vest. I made the 52 3/4″, straight body version using some Huephoria Student Council DK, which is dyed specifically for Seattle Yarn in West Seattle. I made a two color version because I saw the teal “Mme. Cormier” in the shop and it blew me away with how gorgeous it was. There were only two skeins and I wanted to make something with it right away so I bought one skein of the gray “One Way Or Another” figuring I’d do the ribbing with that. I had originally looked at another vest to get an idea of yardage, which did not have cables and wasn’t quite as long, so I was definitely tempting fate a bit. I only knit 10.5 inches before starting the top pattern, which yes helped with yarn usage but also fits much better. As a person with a short torso, especially compared to their chest width, I’m so glad I did this! Annoyingly, I didn’t have quuuite enough of the Mme. Cormier to finish the back. That’s why there was such a long break between the first 90% and last 10% of the knitting. I knit most of this vest in about two weeks in March. But then I ordered some more yarn which was dyed to order, and then I got it just before vacation and was focused on getting the projects ready for that. I used less than 5 grams of the new skein, so some people may have frogged back the front and back and a few rows of the body, and then knit again but uh… I didn’t want do do that. It’s all good, I LOVE this color and it’s pretty close to the Seattle Torrent color so I might use it to make a hat for next season!
In other knitting news, I’ve put in several more rows on my Butterfly and I’m into section 3/3. I’ve turned the heel on the second vacation sock so those will probably be done pretty quick!
In life news, my birthday is tomorrow, so my friend and I are going to the Storm game tonight and are sitting on the floor – thanks parents for the gift! My cousins are sitting in my usual season ticket seats and then we’ll all go out after. Tomorrow I have a few pride-themed events in the city I’m going to check out. It’s going to be beautiful weather!
