Happy Wednesday! I’ve got a few updates since last week so I figured I’d catch up with the rest of the folks sharing their reading and knitting progress at AsKatKnits. Thanks for hosting Kat!
I spent all my crafting time over the past week finishing my Butterfly shawl! I’ll have more to say about this once it’s finished blocking and I can get some nice photos. I didn’t work on Cabanarama at all but y’all seemed to love it so I’m going to continue work on that, as well as two pairs of gift socks! I made a pair of Pokemon socks for my sister’s Christmas gift, but they didn’t fit her. I started over and I got much farther on the second pair then I thought! The rest of the color work is probably about 1 day of knitting, and I’m thinking then I can maybe finish those off and get them over to her in a week or so. I do have a lot of activities coming up that will make it a bit harder to knit, especially on both these socks which require some patterning so we’ll see how much I’ll actually get done!
Reading wise I don’t have a ton to talk about but here goes.
These are the last two published Inspector Gamache books and now I’m a little sad that I’m done with them. There is one more set to be published next fall, but I’m going to miss these characters. I didn’t read all 20 books in a row, but I did read the entire series in about 8 months, so that’s fun! Honestly, these two were probably my least favorite. Without giving too much away, the ending was never really the ending, and instead of this being intriguing, I found it a bit annoying. Overall I still do love the series, the characters are so well rounded and feel like real people, they change over the course of the books in a satisfying way and most of the mysteries are intriguing and unexpected.
I tend to read queer books at any time, but I feel like I couldn’t let June go by without reading one more. A Sharp Endless Need is a queer basketball love story. I found out about this book through a sportswriter I follow, and while I wasn’t able to read it and get to the book club earlier this year, I’m excited to start it now. I have opened this but not much else.
Have a great week!
