Hi all! Thought I’d pop in for a quick Unraveled Wednesday post before the Stephen West MKAL starts tomorrow. Thanks to Kat for hosting us.

The biggest thing in my knitting life is that I finished my latest pair of socks! These are the Zigzagular Socks. I made these out of some Yarn Dragon Sophistisock in the Northern Lights colorwary, which I picked up on my recent trip to Seattle. This is the store brand of this cute little store in the basement of my favorite place in the world, Pike Place market. There’s 10% tencel in this yarn, which adds just a little bit of sheen. I really love the Zigzagular pattern, it’s got enough pattern to keep things fun with plenty of nice chill stockinette. I extended the pattern a little bit into the toe, which I’m not sure I 100% love but it was a nice thing to try.

I decided to start a quick pair of socks for a friend. I’m calling these my “lipstick lesbian” socks because of an inside joke with this friend and the fact that this yarn looks like a lesbian flag threw up on some yarn. 😁 The pattern is my own, a simple extended zig zag cable. I’m hoping to get these done by Saturday when I’ll see her again, but it depends on how much I decided to hyperfixate on the MKAL and how many stitches that is.
On the reading front, I’ve been working through several books by Jeff Pearlman, a sports writer. So far I’ve read Three Ring Circus, Showtime (both those are about various eras of the LA Lakers), and Boys Will Be Boys (about the 90s Dallas Cowboys). I’m currently reading Football for A Buck, which is about a football league in the mid-80s called the USFL where Trump was an owner, so that’s fun. I think Pearlman is a really great writer, he tells the stories well and I often find myself laughing out loud. Also is anyone else on Storygraph? If so, I’m backstagekath there if anyone wants to be friends!
I’ll finish off with some happy photos from the past couple days!
