Hello all! I’m enjoying a chill Sunday evening watching some basketball and so it’s time for a Year of Projects post! YoP is a Ravelry group of bloggers who share a plan for their projects for a year, and then blog about it. You can see my plan here .
I have exciting news! I finished my Perfect Peony test knit socks! These are by Stephanie from Lost Sock Knits, and you’ll be able to buy the pattern starting this Friday (2/28). This was a really fun project to get me back into test knitting after a long break. I hadn’t done colorwork of any kind for about a year, and it had been a LONG time since doing colorwork socks, so this was a really fun way to get back into that process. I did slightly alter the pattern by doing the checkerboard on the foot rather than continuing the flower pattern. I used Lang Jawoll Superwash for these, and while I like this yarn and the fact that it included a single strand of reinforcement yarn for the heels and toes, I do wish I had picked a darker green for the other CC, as there’s not enough contrast between the grey. I’m overall proud of my colorwork tension, though it definitely took a repeat or so of the pattern to get back into it. I do think that a heel flap an gusset would make getting these on a little easier, but I liked the instructions for the heel, that’s a personal fit preference thing. I hope you check these socks out on Friday when they’re released.

Other than that on the knitting front, I’m still slowly working on Consosance and my purple and black White Birch Fiber arts socks. I’m hoping to finish the second cuff on those tonight. I also cast on another Musselburgh on Friday night. I had brought my colorwork socks to knitting club with the hope of finishing them there, and then maybe being able to knit some more at a bar after, so I wanted a new project in case I finished that. But unfortunately the green yarn didn’t make it back into my knitting bag after taking photos for Friday’s post, so I had to start that at knitting club and the bar. I love how quickly things build with DK weight yarn! After I finish my purple and black socks, I’ll start a pair for my sister.

Otherwise life is going really well! I love living in this city and getting to go to so may cool places! I’ve included a little video at the end that I posted on TikTok that I sort of journaled a day I walked 10 miles around. Living in the city is 100% for me and I’m so glad I finally made the leap. I miss my friends and family A LOT, but I’m in the right place for me. Have a great week everyone!
