After a busy weekend in Portland last weekend, I enjoyed a much more relaxed weekend this week, and now it’s time to cap it off by writing a Year of Projects post! YoP is a Ravelry group of bloggers who share a plan for their projects for a year, and then blog about it. You can see my plan here .

I knit a whole pair of socks since I last blogged! These are a quick pair of Hermione’s Everyday socks I made per request of my sister. She requested neutral with pops of color on a crew length sock, and I think I accomplished my goal! This yarn was from a local dyer (totally lost the tag so I couldn’t tell you who) and some leftovers from another pair of socks. It was a quick project that I started right before getting on the train to Portland. I finished these yesterday, though I honestly probably could have finished them last weekend. However, I spent most of my day Monday working on the gusset of the second sock having forgotten to do the heel turn. So they were in timeout for most of the train ride home and then for a few days after I got back until I felt like picking back and starting the foot over. The Consonance Sweater is coming along slowly but surely! I put a few rows on this every week, and I’m hoping to give a bit more time to it in the next little bit.

Now on to some sewing/ embroidery things I did this week! When I was at the Japanese Garden in Portland, I picked up this little shashiko patch kit and made this cute little cat patch over the past two days. Now I’ve just got to figure out what to add the patch to! Also in Portland, I picked up this cute little cat shirt. However, when I tried it on it was too small. I came across a post about a community making/ mending event at a local tool rental place. So I went over there today and was able to use their sewing machine (mine is still in CT) to madd these side gussets to get it to fit a little better.

The other big news is that I found the perfect apartment here in Seattle! It’s a large one bedroom with a balcony and in the literal perfect location. Its two minutes from where I knit Thursdays, a yarn/fabric store, and a lesbian bar. I’ll start getting furniture in at the end of this month and sometime in April will go back to CT to get the rest of my stuff. I’m so excited to make a place my own.

I had an awesome time in Portland last weekend! I saw the art market, Japanese gardens, the art museum, Powell’s books, and generally had an amazing time in the city. Here’s some photos of the trip.
