Happy Wednesday! I went back and forth on if I wanted to write today for Unraveled Wednesday hosted by Kat, because I feel like my knitting doesn’t have a ton of updates. But I’ve got a bunch of reading updates so I figured why not!

I’ve really only been working on my So Summer Shirt all week. I’m hoping to finish this tomorrow so I can block it and wear it in time for the Flock Fiber Festival this weekend! It’s a little hard to tell from the picture, but I finished the front and am about halfway through the back! I am making this sleeveless so really close. I’m really excited to wear it. I did but some time into my tulips cross stitch as well, but not a ton of progress there. The only other new item you see is a shawl I started. So, I really didn’t another WIP but look here’s what happened. Last Friday my cousin invited me to go see a movie with them. I of course needed something to knit during a two hour Japanese movie from the 50s (this theater shows older movies only). But of course, the socks I’m working on use a slip stitch pattern on the sole and i was worried about keeping track of that in the dark. So I cast on this quickly and worked on it at knitting club before the movie. It’s just a garter stitch asymetric triangle, no particular pattern. Not sure when I’ll get back to it, but it’s a nice option to have.
I did end up finishing The Undetectables, and it definitely grew on me. There were some great messages of found family, and I really appreciated how the author described the MC’s chronic illness and the emotions connected to it. There’s more to the series so I’ll get to those eventually
I just returned Motheater. I haven’t had time to listen to it so I’ll give it to the next person in the library. I might come back to it one day, we’ll see.

I didn’t talk about these last week, but over the past few weeks I read the three published books in the This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi. I really can’t decide how I feel about these. On the one hand I really want to keep reading these because somehow the characters have made me care about them and what happens in their world. On the other hand there’s some annoying relationship stuff that frustrates me. The next book comes out in September I believe so we’ll see what happens then.
The Other Olympians by Michael Waters is the next book club book for my queer sports Discord group. I’ve started but haven’t quite wanted to spend a ton of time on potentially difficult material. I do really like how it’s formatting in a more story-like than academic format so far, so I’ll probably spend more time on this over the weekend.
I came across A Trinket for the Taking by Victoria Laurie on Libby when I was looking for fiction books after finishing All This Twisted Glory. I’m really liking it so far! It’s magical realism and the main character is great.
So that’s my week! I’ll be back hopefully on Friday for a FO Friday post of my tank and then early next week with an overview of Flock Fiber Festival!
