About Me

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m so happy to have you here.

My name is Kathryn, and I set up this blog to talk about my knitting. I have been knitting steadily since late 2014, though I first learned when I was in middle school. Knitting is a way for me to relax, challenge myself, meet new friends, and make beautiful things. I figured out a few years ago that my driving force is to create things people use or enjoy, and knitting fits right into this.

That driving spirit is not just about knitting though. It’s what keeps me engaged at my day job at an insurance company, working on process improvement to make other people’s jobs easier. It’s also why I do theater – the name of this blog comes from my love of working on a show.

On this blog you’ll find my musings around the projects I knit and how they fit into my life. I love to get to know my fellow bloggers, so stop by and say hello!

Today was an awesome day! @leahvarrell @kristinbietsch @jeglaubius and I spent the day sewing. We made the Otis Overalls from @sewliberated

Pre-pandemic, @kcostolnick and I would cook together a lot, and it felt so, so, good to get back to that tradition today!!

Knitting content has been light around here for a while as I had a huge secret test knit that took me about two months, and then for some reason dove into another one, though with a shorter timeline! Today I decided I needed a break from all that complexity and secrecy, so I cast on a #weeenvelopesweater for my coworker’s soon to be baby. My coworker is also a craft beer fan so I think he’ll appreciate the @hogriverbrewing sour I’m enjoying while making this. It’s so nice to knit, read, and relax on the porch!

Absolutely thrilled to be a part of @lilfif21 ‘s wedding with these lovely ladies! The four of us have been through so much- school projects (r-rna), proms, college, post graduation moves, and figuring out this whole adulting thing. Congratulations Elmira and Chris, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Since the winter I’ve been volunteering as a tutor and mentor with @connectikids which is a great organization. I’ve enjoyed getting to know my student and try to help them a bit. Tonight they hosted a cook along with @the__philosopher_chef

Happy Bachelorette Elmira!! I’m so glad I was able to join you to celebrate today. Even though the #mountainviewsbeforeidos weren’t quite as mountainous as you would have liked, it was certainly an adventure none of us will ever forget!

I’ve missed outdoor knitting! Taking full advantage of a day off with lunch and sock beginnings at @heirloommarket

It’s so beautiful here in CT today! I’m sitting outside on my deck taking some conference calls this afternoon and enjoying this brief glimpse of spring! I thought I’d also share my most recent finished object. This is the On the Road again hat by @snickerdoodleknits , which is being released next week! I was able to test knit this in a few days this weekend. The MC is from @sassyblackyarns1 , and I love the deep rich greens!
