Knitting and Sewing and Cross Stitching, Oh My! – YOP 21/22 – Week 14

Happy Sunday! Checking in with a Year of Projects post today. Year of Projects is a group of bloggers who plans their projects for the year and then blogs about their progress weekly, usually on Sundays. You can find my list for the year here.

I have so much progress to share on various things this week! I’m currently on vacation, and it’s been rainy today and yesterday, so it’s perfect weather for crafting!

Let’s start with knitting, that’s actually the most boring progress. I am almost done with the Ace Pride socks, I cast off the tube last night, and then cut them in half this morning and so far have one toe done. Hoping to finish these off today, or maybe tomorrow if I get distracted by other things today.

In cross stitch land, I did finish my butterfly cross stitch before I left! I really like this, though there were little tiny things about the pattern that annoyed me by the end, just in how the designer lined up the triangles. I’m trying to decide if I want to do something outside of the butterfly, I have enough Aida to do so, and I feel weird kind of wasting all that extra fabric. I’m also working slowly but surely on my tulips cross stitch, and I’m maybe about 1/2 way done with the first chart. I’m really glad I brought this with me on the trip, it’s been a great thing to do at night. I’m not sure how much it will get worked on once I get home with the WestKnits MKAL starting.

Finally, sewing! I did make my for real Rheinbeck dress over the past two days. I took a bunch of footage, because I’ve been watching so many sewing YouTube videos lately, so I’ll have more to share about this once I get around to putting that all together. But for now I’ll say that I’m really happy with it, and the small changes I made. I really liked comparing a picture of the first to the second one (it’s the same pattern) and seeing the slightly better fit and shorter length.

Phew! That’s it for me this week. It will continue to be rainy the next two days of my trip, so lots more progress I think. I did bring another skein of sock yarn which I might start, and there’s also fabric here to sew a jumpsuit. That one might be too complicated though, so I might cut out pattern pieces and fabric, with no really commitment to making that while I’m here.

Hope you all have a great week! Have you been working on as many different things as I have, or have you been more monogamous in your crafting?
