Welp, hope everyone has had a good four months, which is the last time I checked in. I figured I’d spend a little bit of time today talking about what’s going on in my life here and why I sometimes struggle to engage here consistently, even though I love much of what this space has to offer.
But first I’ll start with a bit of a life update. Part of the journey to Seattle this week for me was being able to explore my gender identity and presentation. Sort of a new year, new city, new me type vibe. And as a part of that I’ve felt drawn to more masculine style, have shaved my head, and now identify as non-binary and use they/them pronouns. I’m still using the name Kathryn as changing my name feels like playing a part, I’m still Kathryn just the correct version of me. It’s definitely a scary time in our country to identify in this way, but I will not be erased. Trans and non-binary people have been here forever, and we won’t stop being here just because our government has decided we don’t exist.

So yeah, it’s been a little hard for me to stay engaged in this space. I have said this before here, but I’m always more surprised when I do manage to be here consistently then when I don’t. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t tend to do things every day for long periods of time, habit forming has never been one of my strong suits. Nothing awful has been keeping me from here, I’m just figuring out my new life here and blogging time doesn’t always fit in. I think this space was incredibly useful to me during the pandemic (even though I started this blog before everything really kicked off), especially as I was doing a lot of crafting. But as things opened up and I found myself doing other activities, it just moved down the priority list. I guess long breaks are something you can expect from this blog, it’s more the norm than the exception. After twice trying to use Year of Projects to create more consistency, it clearly doesn’t work so I’m gonna stop trying that.
I haven’t done a great job of documenting my crafting over the past few months, but here’s a few pictures of things. I’ve got an FO post planned for one of the items here, since I just finished it this week.

I’ve been really settling in to life here, and absolutely love getting to live in such an amazing city. I’ve been going to a lot of sporting events, breweries, craft fairs, and really just living life to the fullest. My sister came to visit recently and we had an amazing time together. Summer in Seattle is just the best time.

Hope you enjoyed this photo heavy post! Talk to you soon (maybe)!
